As refractory material in foundry feiled, chromite sand has multiple advantages such as high specific gravity, strong heat conductivity, fast cooling, high refractory temperature, small thermal expansion coefficient, and good slag resistance. Chromite sand AFS45-50  can work as casting sand in different casting processes.

 

1. Sand casting process. Chromite sand AFS45-50 is a good surface sand for molding. It is suitable for sand casting processes such as furan resin no bake sand and water glass sand. Sand binders are mostly Alp Haset Resins (Phenolic Ester Cured System) and Furan-Phenolic Resins(Acid Cured System).

 

2. Shell moulding process. Chromite sand AFS45-50 is suitable for the RCS process of shell moding casting. It is an excellent sand for shell molds and shell cores with alkaline phenolic resin, Piper resin, and triethylamine cold core resin. Sand binders are mostly Sigmacure Cold Box Resins (Amine Cured System),Betaset Cold Box Resins (MF Cured System) and Alkafen Resins (CO2 Cured System).

 

Based on the above casting process, chromite sand is widely used in the casting of high manganese steel castings, ductile cast iron, stainless steel castings, alloy castings, carbon steel castings and other materials. The advantages of chrome ore sand AFS45-50 in the casting process include:

1. The thermal conductivity is 2-3 times higher than that of zircon sand. It can quickly conduct the heat of molten steel. It has good chilling characteristics. Thus, adopting chromite sand can prevent the porosity defects caused by uneven solidification of castings.
2. The refractory temperature is higher than that of silica sand. It can withstand the high temperature of manganese steel and stainless steel molten steel pouring. Iron Chromite sand does not react chemically with molten steel and its oxides. As a result, it can prevent chemical sand sticking on the surface of castings and has the advantage of anti-sand sticking on castings.
3. Chromite sand AFS45-50 has strong solid phase sintering ability and good resistance to molten steel erosion. It can prevent sand inclusion defects in steel castings and improve the surface quality of castings.
4. The particle size ratio of chrome ore sand AFS45-50 is scientific and meets the AFS fineness standard. It can ensure that the molding sand has sufficient strength support and maintains good air permeability.
5. The moisture content of chrome ore sand AFS45-50 dry sand is less than 0.1%, the silicon content is less than 1%, the acid consumption value is less than 5ml, and the mud content is low. It prevents the influence of impurities, moisture on the performance of molding sand and resin coated sand.
